We’re huge fans of the Community West Foundation which raises and distributes millions of dollars each year to charities in northeast Ohio. In fact, Rockwell Metals Company has been a supporter of the foundation for almost 2 decades and Rockwell Metals President Chris Harrington is chairman of the foundation’s Board.

As winter’s chill sets in across Northeast Ohio, the Community West Foundation, in partnership with WKYC Studios and Shoes and Clothes for Kids, stepped up to make a difference. On a frosty day at Natividad Pagan International Newcomers Academy in Cleveland, over 700 students received much-needed winter gear during an event aptly named "Winter Wonderland."

For many of these children, this winter marks their first experience with the region’s cold weather. To ensure they were ready, the event provided essential winter apparel, including new boots, socks, hats, and gloves. These small but crucial items can make all the difference in keeping kids warm and comfortable, enabling them to focus on learning and thriving.

Beyond the practical support, the day was filled with joy and discovery. Representatives from the Cleveland Monsters hockey team introduced students to the thrills of winter sports, and various festive activities created a magical atmosphere for everyone involved. It wasn’t just about staying warm—it was about creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of community.

“Supporting the basic needs of our community's children is central to our mission,” shared Marty Uhle, President and CEO of Community West Foundation. “We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with partners who share our commitment to enhancing the well-being of those we serve.”

This incredible day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of local businesses and nonprofits. Pro Lights, the Cleveland Kids' Book Bank, Krispy Kreme, American Greetings, and the Cleveland Public Library’s Warm Up Cleveland program all played vital roles in making the event a success.

Community West Foundation believes in restoring dignity and providing essentials to those in need. Through events like Winter Wonderland, we’re reminded of the power of community and the joy of giving back. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this heartwarming day—together, we’re making Northeast Ohio a warmer place, in every sense of the word.
